I was issued a challenge by my friend Darkly Dreaming Klar Nett: to write a poem that said “you’re mine”.
This is the poem.
Mine
As dusk whispers its last lullabies—
I watch your sleep—
eyelids concealing wandering eyes—
dreams touching lips—
the faintest curve upward emerges—
and I see it...
As shadows creep and threaten your light—
I catch your tears—
defenses cracking—an inner fight—
unearthing fears—
on my shoulder your peace resurges—
and I feel it...
As serenity returns—flushing—
I feel your breath—
warmth caress your cheeks with soft blushing—
from your soul’s depths—
you wake up in my arms—in safety—
and I hold it...
As curious fingers trace bare skin—
I feel your touch—
our eyes lock—an agreement of sin—
pleasure—our judge—
our lips welcoming lust—so hasty—
and I taste it...
As your body surrenders—
as your senses invite me—
I embody desire—
your inhibitions I free—
freedom to me strung...
As your legs part and summon—
as I enter and command—
master of ceremony—
and the temple at my hand—
to me you belong...
Every one movement
out of your control—
and I lead it...
Every cry and moan—
you accept your role—
and I know it...
In my chest you find warmth—
in my tongue, surrender—
like never before,
you curl—
forget everyone else—
you found your forever—
I am your haven—
good girl...
In your dreams I saw it—
in your fears I felt it—
I move inside you—
my shrine—
in your breath I held it—
in your lips I kissed it—
I claim your release—
you’re mine.
You’re mine, my dear—
just like I’m yours—
in lucid mind,
so in stupor—
and you get it...
I worship you—
my quintessence—
in restlessness,
and quiescence—
and you know it...
As our bodies shiver—
sweet bliss delivered—
and we know it...
We’re spent in carnal charms—
in each other’s arms—
and we claim it...
We belong.

How I took the challenge: finding the tenderness underneath such a claim—the intensity of the fire, but none of the burns. 😉
Oh you want some prose now? Not to worry, I have just the thing 😏:
